VALLEY Hunters return this weekend to face the struggling Wanderers in round ten of the Capital Rugby Union competition at the Bava Park in Port Moresby.
The side grabbed two extra points last weekend following their bye and enjoyed two straight wins against Crusaders and MBB Marlins in the earlier rounds, and would be vying to maintain their winning form this weekend.
With emphasis on discipline as a key area of improvement by head coach Frank Genia, the task would be on experienced campaigner and former PNG Pukpuks 15s squad member Johnny Ephraim to lead the valley men against Wanderers.
“I think discipline is the critical part of the game,” Genia said.
“We want to reduce the number of penalties. We trying to cut down on that and I commend the referees, they’ve done a great a job.
“We just need to get some clarity on what we need to work on, and then we can reduce our penalties because for sure discipline can kill the game.” Meanwhile, ladder-leaders Harlequins would be looking for a tenth straight win this season as they take on University Piggies, who got dusted last weekend 35-20 by heavyweights Brothers.
The Credit Corporation-sponsored side defeated an inform Crusaders 35-15 last weekend and with key emphasis on weekly improvements, Harlies coach Billy Rapilla’s main concern is ensuring his players are disciplined and not to take anything for granted.
“For this season, we are taking it one game at a time. We’re aiming for a win but we also want to maintain discipline,” Rapilla told The National.
“It’s nine wins so far. Every team is now looking at us and will be trying hard to beat us so that keeps us on our toes to work hard and improve our game.”
