Education

A SECOND-YEAR geology student from the University of Papua New Guinea was awarded a scholarship by Nickel 28 Capital Corp.
Nickel 28 Capital Corp, head of Asia Pacific Craig Lennon, who presented the scholarship to Shirley Ambang in Port Moresby, said the company hoped to grow the sponsorship programme with another student next year and in the subsequent years.
He said the scholarship package covered tuition, lodging, book allowance and living allowance that would extend throughout Ambang’s undergraduate study.
Lennon said Nickel 28 Capital Corp was pleased to participate in such programmess and decided a scholarship was an appropriate scheme to contribute towards the development of the next generation of geoscientists and geologists in PNG.
University vice-chancellor Prof Frank Griffin said the university was always grateful for such external assistance and partnership.
Griffin said the scholarships contributed toward producing quality graduates as well as relieved some of the administrative responsibilities of the university to the students.
