OPPOSITION Leader Douglas Tomuriesa has reiterated his call for change in Government leadership to restore public confidence.
After Parliament was adjourned yesterday, the Kiriwina Goodenough MP said the Opposition was “geared and ready”.
“Change must happen. Papua New Guinea has struggled and you don’t have to go far to see it,” he said.
“The Speaker today (yesterday) mentioned that Parliament has no money.
“Then Papua New Guinea does not have it.
“If planes are not flying because of lack of fuel, then Papua New Guinea does not have money (to progress).”
He said the foreign exchange shortage, health and education issues were affecting public confidence in how the Government was being run.
He added that the “constant blackouts” were a headache.
“In Alotau, we have blackouts almost every day,” he said.
“Issue after issue have called us like-minded leaders for change in Papua New Guinea.
“We call our brothers in Government, especially in Pangu Pati, to come and join us. Let’s put our differences aside and help the country.”
Tomuriesa also said the Opposition camp has been moved from Waigani to Downtown.
The Opposition camp initially had 19 MPs before they were joined by 15 MPs last weekend. There are now 34 MPs in camp.
