School aware of video

Huonville Primary School principal Dairi Baru says the school is aware of the viral TikTok video showing some male students verbally attacking students in Port Moresby using vulgar language.
Dairi, while refusing to comment further, told The National that this was a police matter and was currently being investigated.
“We are still in discussion with the provincial education board, school inspector and the police, so we cannot comment,” he said.
“There are too many issues to discuss, when we finalise our discussions, we will release a statement to the media.”
Provincial education adviser Keith Tangui had called for an immediate termination of students displaying mischievous behaviour.
This call was supported by Morobe Governor Luther Wenge, who expressed disgust after viewing the video.
“No student should feel comfortable using bad language or portraying bad behaviour,” he said.
“This video is very alarming, it shows that something is wrong and must be corrected immediately.”
Wenge said this showed the failure of the parents and school teachers.
“Parents and teachers must ensure that good moral standards, good behaviour and manners are instilled into the minds of the young,” he said.
“When these adults in their lives misbehave, the students catch on and mimic them.”
Wenge warned that the teachers of Huonville Primary School had to improve, while the school board and parents must take a tough stand on these students.
