Quinnie back in court today

NATIONAL Capital District (NCD) governor Powes Parkop’s daughter-in-law Quinnie Mick is scheduled to make her submissions in a committal court in Waigani today.
Quinnie, 24, is charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty, robbery, threatening to kill and assaulting Stacey Lydia Sirimai in Port Moresby in November.
She told the court on Thursday that she had already given her statement to her lawyer Edward Sasingian (who will make the submission today).
Sasingian was not in court on Thursday.
Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant Joseph Sangam applied for the case to be adjourned for the last time for Sasingian to confirm whether he was ready to make his submission.
He said police file was served on March 24.
Sangam added that if their submission was not ready today, the prosecution would apply for the court to adjourn for a ruling based on evidence on the police file.
Magistrate Paul Puri Nii upheld Sangam’s application and fixed today for the matter to return.
Quinnie’s bail was extended.
Quinnie, allegedly on Nov 30 between 9am and 1pm, used her husband’s mobile phone to send several text messages to Stacey to meet up at a motel in Waigani.
Stacey was a member of Quinnie’s husband, Sengol Parkop’s, campaign team in the Moresby North-West by-election last year.
Quinnie suspected she was having an affair with her husband.
