PRIME Minister James Marape says he has hope in future generations that can excel through proper education.
“My children, you can do it,” he said.
“Respect your teachers – both local and international.
“Education is the greatest gift I can give to you – my people.
“If I give you money now, it will be used to buy material things that will perish.
“However, giving education to you (children) is my greatest investment in our future.”
Addressing Hope Institute students in Tari, Hela, yesterday, Marape commended the institute’s management for their efforts in successfully running the learning hub and encouraging students to strive for excellence.
“Last year, this institution held its first grade 12 graduation, with 12 graduates,” he said.
“Out of these 12 graduates, eight students continued on to tertiary institutions.
“Today (yesterday), Hope Institute has enrolled 120 grade 12 students and we look forward to having more students next year on.”
Marape urged students not to give up on hope but “give it your utmost best”.
“We look forward to an expansion of this institution to Tvet (technical, vocational education and training) and polytech facilities in the near future.”
