TAXPAYERS in Port Moresby can now access a new range of services following  the opening of the Taxpayer Services Centre.

Betty Palaso, the Commissioner-General of the Internal Revenue Commission, said the commission was increasing its services and enhancing effective collections of taxes.

“IRC has created a new tax processing division to perform all the front and revenue administration and processing,” she said.

“We have recruited more than 120 new officers to perform the new functions, freeing up tax specialists for redeployment elsewhere in the organisation.”

She said the centre located at the ground floor of Eda Rumana, was similar to the banks in terms of service.

“It’s similar to that and gives our clients a new experience similar to the banks where they go and make payments, obtain receipts or make enquiries on their account.”
