MP’s staffer accused of sodomy

ALL ministerial staff have a code of conduct, chief of staff of the Prime Minister and National Executive Council Philip Leo says.
Leo said that there were disciplinary measures in place for ministerial staff who acted corruptly or were involved in any conduct that was considered corrupt or tarnished the reputation of ministers and inevitably, the Prime Minister’s office.
This comes after a social media post alleged that an officer who works for a Member of Parliament (MP) allegedly beat, raped and sodomised his ex-girlfriend
The officer (named) allegedly followed his ex-girlfriend to her home province earlier this year and allegedly threatened her and her family.
The 33-year-old woman, out of concern for her family, agreed to come back to him in Port Moresby, only to be taken to a suburb in Port Moresby where she was allegedly assaulted repeatedly until she was rescued on March 23 by officers from the Boroko Police Station’s criminal investigation division.
An official complaint was laid that same day, with the woman, providing pictures, and the objects that the ministerial staffer had used to assault her with, as evidence.
The Hohola Police Station’s family sexual violence unit assisted in getting an interim protection order to serve on the staffer after he allegedly continued to threaten the victim verbally and via text and social media messages, using his position as an officer for the MP and also claiming to have the support of the police force and criminals in Port Moresby. Leo said the Office of the Prime Minister and National Executive Council condemned the staffer’s alleged actions.
