Markham farmers get training

Momase

TWENTY farmers in Markham, Morobe, have completed a week-long training on soil management.
Trainer Peter Linibi said the farmers were taught how to structure and manage soil before going into farming.
“You must balance your soil before planting crops,” he said.
“Always be conscious of the plants’ health and diet.
“The training will greatly assist you to have proper soil planning and management.”
The training ran from July 25 to 29 and was funded by the Pacific Island Farmer Organisation Network.
It was facilitated by the PNG Women in Agriculture with the support of the National Agriculture Research Institute.
Participant Chrissilla Luma said she would apply what she learned in her farming.
“I have learnt a lot from the training to avoid too much soil tilting which distracts plants,” Luma said.
