Man gets 2yr jail term for possession of pistol

A MAN was sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard labour in Tari, Hela, last week after he was found guilty of possessing a pistol.
Habia Hakawai, 36, from Tigimap village, South Koroba in Hela, was jailed by the Tari District Court last Thursday.
According to the Highlands acting police commander, Hakawai has been sent to Baisu jail.
The Magnum pistol he had would be destroyed in front of the court house after seven days, according to a court order.
Provincial police commander Chief Inspector Martin Lakari said Hakawai was arrested last Wednesday.
