LATE Ben Micah’s partner Maryanne Millie Micah says she will continue his legacy by promoting professional boxing across the country.
Oceania Fight Promotions managing director Maryanne told The National on Sunday that the former Kavieng MP died from a massive heart attack last Wednesday morning.
“My husband was sitting on the couch at hour home in Port Moresby when he had the sudden heart attack,” she said.
“The St John Ambulance arrived a few minutes later and tried to revive him, but it was too late.
“We rushed him to Pacific International Hospital (PIH), but he passed away when we left the house, so there was nothing they could do to save him.” Maryanne said Micah had no pre-existing health condition.
“Two weeks ago, Ben was experiencing chest pains and we admitted him to PIH,” she said.
“The doctors helped him through a heart process and he was at the hospital for four days.
“He was discharged the previous weekend.
“He came home and died five days after he left the hospital.”
Maryanne said Micah was a big loss to the family, boxing and politics.
“I have two children with him and we’ve adopted two, so we have four kids,” she said.
“Ben had two previous marriages, so he has children from those ones.
“It really hurts to lose him like this and we will miss him dearly.
“But, I will not give up.
“Ben loves boxing.
“He always wanted Papua New Guinea to produce quality professional boxers.
“His legacy will live on and I will continue to promote the sport (that he loved) through Oceania Fight Promotions.”
