THE arrival of tablets for computer-assisted personal interviews (Capi) in Goroka yesterday further delayed the sending of teams to the districts to conduct headcounts, an official says.
Eastern Highlands provincial census coordinator James Sipa said they were planning to send teams to the districts to use paper-assisted personal interviews yesterday.
“However, since the arrival of the digital tablets, we will spend at least one day or two to train supervisors and enumerators on how to use the Capi before they will be sent out to the districts,” Sipa said.
He confirmed receiving 72 boxes of digital tablets yesterday and immediately distributed them among the teams.
Sipa said all the teams would be going out at the same time, complete their work at the same time and return the data at the same time.
“I do not want delays waiting for teams to bring in the data that was collected.
“I want all information to come in at the same time, no one is to come early or late.
“Every team has to complete and come back together to compile reports at the same pace,” he said.
He said priorities would be given to the Unavi LLG in Lufa, Yelia, Lamari, Marawaka in Obura-Wonenara, Wesan/Bramin in Daulo and Henganofi.
