Hold-up, break in disrupt celebration

AN armed hold-up and a break-and-enter case disrupted quiet New Year celebrations in Popondetta.
A vehicle was taken during the hold-up of a PNG Power Ltd staff at Killerton, Kumusi, outside town at 9pm on Dec 31.
A mobile phone, K50 in cash and other personal items were also taken, police commander Supt Michael Welly said.
A store was broken into and an undisclosed amount of cash, store goods and items were stolen, Welly said.
The incident happened at 4am on Jan 1 at Sorovi.
