THE National St John Ambulance Service (NStJA) launched its Green Angel Appeal in the National Capital District on International St John Day, on Monday.
The Green Angel Appeal, an initiative by Namba Wan Trophy Limited (NWTL) Group, aimed to raise K1 million by the end of this year to support NStJA.
The funds would be used to buy additional ambulances and sustain operations.
NWTL Group’s chief operating officer Gavin Thompson said: “The NWTL Group is committed to supporting the National St John Ambulance Service.
“The Green Angels Appeal is our key vehicle to engage with the community and our business partners for this support.
“The National St John Ambulance Service is a critical part of the support system that all Papua New Guineans should be able to access in times of need.
“We commend the work that they do and we look forward to rolling out the Green Angels appeal to help raise much-needed funds for this worthy cause,” Thompson said.
“Since launching this campaign, we are starting to receive an overwhelming amount of support from businesses around PNG.
“However, whilst there is still a long way to go, we remain positive and believe that by collaborating together, we will achieve the target of K1 million,” Thompson added.
The NWTL Group is a leading business conglomerate in Papua New Guinea, operating for over 35 years and employing more than 1,100 team members in some of the country’s leading retail and wholesale businesses.
These businesses included household names such as Fone Haus, Trophy Haus, Force Security Services, South Pacific Building Solutions (SPBS), Wantech, Victory No.8 and Kwik-Distribution.
The NWTL Group is dedicated to supporting community initiatives and contributing to the welfare of the nation through various philanthropic efforts.
NStJA chief executive officer Matt Cannon, thanked NWTL Group, emphasising the critical timing of their support.
“Your support will help put more ambulances on the road, fund essential equipment, lighten the load on our team, and ultimately save more lives.
“The National St John Ambulance is a Papua New Guinean State entity that provides an emergency ambulance service.
“We are grateful for the Government funding and support, but we still function as a charity needing to generate about 30 per cent of our operating revenue to fund our lifesaving ambulance service,” Cannon said.
