Firm launches new digital identification services

Digizen PNG Limited, a pioneer in digital identification services for financial inclusion, has launched a new Digizen identification (ID) card to ensure financial services are inclusive.
Digizen chief executive officer Frank van der Poll said this update introduced a range of features designed to expand functionality, improve efficiency, and ensure user privacy, reinforcing Digizen’s mission to provide secure and inclusive digital identification for everyone in Papua New Guinea.
“Digizen enables Papua New Guinean citizens to acquire a Digital ID card in minutes instead of months,” der Poll said“The solution, approved by Bank of PNG, is revolutionary, enabling each citizen to obtain an ID card.
“At Digizen, we are committed to serving our customers and ensuring everyone in Papua New Guinea has access to the financial services they need,” he said.
New features introduced included.

•  CVV (Card Verification Value) code for universal compatibility: The new Digizen ID card now includes a CVV to identify the cardholder and enhance security.

The card can be read by anyone with an NFC-capable Android device – but only with user consent – ensuring privacy and expanded access;

• ABILITY to update information on card: It is now possible to update information such as photos or addresses on their Digizen cards after issuance – or to add completely new signed information.

This flexibility opens future use cases, like creating an ID wallet for additional verified documents such as driver’s licences or cocoa cards, making the Digizen card a versatile tool going forward;

•  READABILITY of revoked cards: Previously inaccessible once revoked, cards can now be read while clearly flagged as revoked.

This ensures original information remains accessible for various purposes;

•  DIGITAL signatures: Every card now has a PIN code for strong two-factor authentication to services online and offline.

Going forward, users can create digital signatures to sign contracts electronically with their Digizen card and PIN code, even when offline; and,

•  BACKEND improvements: Also backend processes were improved for enhanced security and agility for future product updates, ensuring Digizen remains at the forefront of digital identification services.
