ENB to hold two-day funeral for Sir Rabbie

THE people of East New Britain will today and tomorrow pay their last respect to the late former prime minister Sir Rabbie Namaliu, before his body is taken to Port Moresby for burial.
Acting provincial administrator Levo Mano said although the two days were not declared public holidays, the provincial government wanted the people to attend the funeral programme for Sir Rabbie.
Mano urged businesses and public servants to participate in the funeral programme. “The two days are not public holidays but we are urging us all to participate in the funeral of this great man,” he said.
“Let us give him the respect because of what he has done not only for the people of Kokopo but also for ENB, the New Guinea Islands and PNG as a whole,” Mano said. His body will overnight at his Raluana home.
A commemorative funeral service will be held in the Raluana United Church on Friday morning.
