THE Lae Vendors and Growers Association has urged farmers and growers to bring their produce to sell at the Lae temporary market on Friday.
Association president Margret Kumbu urged farmers to bring their produce to the market to sell. “Many farmers and growers are not coming to the temporary market to sell their fresh produce, but instead are going to other urban markets such as 13A market and Kamkumung market,” Kumbu said.
The temporary market was opened three weeks ago, but there has been a low volume of produce being sold there.
“Some venders are saying that they don’t feel safe at the temporary market, but it is more secure than the old main market area because we have security guards patrolling,” Kumbu said.
She said some complained that the market was too small.
Kumbu urged farmers to relay to her any concern they have so that she can take it up with the city authority.
